Brings back memories for me also. I rode through southern Utah in September. There were four of us. We headed north on rte 261. When we got to the base of that Mesa, we could see where the dirt road was etched into the side of the mountain. Looked very daunting from the bottom, we didn't know whether it was doable or not. Buddies tried to talk me into it. I replied, "FU, where would you like to meet?" Two of us turned around, about an 80 mile detour, and we all reconnected the next day. Turned out the road was easier than it appeared, but who knew... have learned to trust my instincts over the years.
