I Did It- Raised Backrest For Wife!!
« on: September 28, 2012, 12:05:01 AM »

Since I got my new wheels I have been disappointed with the height of the backrest.  Actually, it was not comfortable for my wife.  A quick fix was to tack on HD aftermarket cheap backrest, but it was comfortable for my wife.  (It was the right height) finally found the Right Welder who Nailed It! Then to have it double chromed..by an artist..

Now matching back rest is four inches higher than stock..wife loves it..and it looks and feels Fantastic!

Nice Job! I like your seats and bags. Are they stock or custom?

How about some pics of your wife on the bike?

Seems to me like it would have been easier to just purchase the taller backrest from Harley?

That's what I did as a quick fix, but the matching backrest pad does not fit on the taller backrest, and the original CVO backrest is about twice the weight..much heavier steel, and the chrome job is far superior.  It did not look or feel right as the factory one now does..very happy with results..
