2012 cvo street glide exhaust
« on: October 25, 2012, 04:41:07 PM »

Hello, Just installed a set of 2" fulsac exhaust cores, was hoping for a deeper or throttier tone idling and on excellerating. I still have the original header pipe. Suggestions on what way to go, First 2 of the friend i ride with have 103 street glides with vance and hindes slip on mufflers, the both sound deeper than my 110.

Replace the headers with Steve's Xcpipe and you will have a nice deeep rumble plus more power and less heat.

With the catalytic converters in the stock pipes, you are limited on the amount of sound you are going to get out of them.

Change out the headpipe to a non-cat unit and it will sound more like a Harley.

Fullsac has several options that will help in sound and performance

kgoeckscvo, I have the V&H X-pipe with 4" Rinehart slipons and the sound I have been told is deeper than the V&H slipons.  You might want to check this out.  :2vrolijk_21:  also, feel free to go to the new member section and introduce yourself.  ;)

I added Freedom Performance 4" racing slip ons and wanted a louder and deeper sound also. I've just cut out the cat on the stock exhaust and it is a noticably  deeper sound. Way better.

I did the Fullsac headpipe after riding around for 2 months with just the 2" baffles.  All I have to say is WOW, it sounds down right mean.

2012 CVO, Idea on header pipes, Fulsacs or V&Hs? What about removing the cat material fro the original?

I just did the same to my 2012 CVO SG. Yeah I was hoping for more too. But they are right, as long as we keep the catalytic converter in we won't get the sound nor the performance out of the exhaust system. I am going to put the Fullsac x-pipe C on, I can't wait. If you do that you will be happier with the sound, performance, and heat reduction; all while keeping the original clean look. You could also take some of the insulation off from around the cores for now to increase he sound. Wears only going to get so much with the cat though.

Curious, if you were going for a deeper/throatier sound, why the 2" and not the 2 1/4"?
That question aside, get the cat-free header pipe (don't forget the tuner also), and install it.
You'll see an immediate sound improvement.
If still not satisfied though, then you can start reducing the amount of insulation inside the cans.
If going that route, I recommend removing it in stages and equally with each side - don't take it all out at once.  Just a bit at a time until you find the sound that speaks to you.
Remember this though too - almost everyone is going to say their set-up is the best.  BUT it's YOUR ride and YOU should decide what you like.
Go around to some shows and listen.  Keep an ear out at your local dealers/shops.  Check out internet sites with people posting clips and listen to them.  When you hear what you like, find out what they have.
Above all, trust your ears and what YOU like - don't let anyone tell you what you should/shouldn't like, unless they are willing to buy it for you...
Good luck!

Went with V&H Truedual headpipe and Rineheart 4in. mufflers and dyno tuned it. Sounds deep and nasty when you get on it, heat is gone, I like this set up better than the powerduals i had on another bike.

Hey Judy, what's the diff on the x pipe or power duals or dual dressers. Also, I am kind of a V&H fan, loved the sound on my sporty and my DH's 2 into 2 big easy radius or whatever they are called sound really great. My stock just sounds like tat tat tat. You like the rinehart slip ons better? I don't like the black end caps on them, but I think he makes an all chrome one, too?

I am waiting on Laughlin for the river Fest to get V&H to do the pipes for free or super low installation. I know others have also mentioned Freedom, and I know I saw them there, too, last year.

Did you get the power commander? V&H has one, can't remember the name but they installed that with the pipes for the DHs street Bob too. You also mentioned a V&H throttle pack, is that something to do at the same time?

Finances kind of lean right now so waiting on most stuff. At 544 miles now so only been about 5 days back in the saddle. Sucky thing is that when I was swimming I overextended my shoulder so it has been giving me pangs, not sure what's up with that but I need to be getting stronger, not injured right now. I have to go back to work first time since June. But, it's half days next week due to my iron infusions for the anemia that I have always been borderline, but fell really low after 2 surgeries and over 3 months on bed rest.

Can't wait to read more about the MV trip. Hope the rains aren't hitting you all too hard in Ohio
