« on: November 08, 2012, 09:08:24 PM »

I have a stock stereo and acquired a stock 55x2 stock amp and harness and need info on how to marry the two.Is it as simple as plugging the bike harness into the amp and the amp harness into the stereo and wiring the speakers from that harness?

What amp you have?  The only external amps I'm aware that are as plug and play as you describe are one of the models from HawgWired and a Hogtunes piece.  There is no "stock" external amp (as in Harley branded part to add to the system) for the pre Harman Kardon bikes.

Your radio was supplied to HD by Radio Sound.  Call Radio Sound  and ask for customer service, ask to talk to John:  (502) 267-6768.  They are very helpful and can surely answer any questions you might have on how to hook up this amp.

It is Harley amp made by radios sound pn 77193-02 with a plug on one end and battery hookup speaker wires and 2 additional wires on the other end

Had never seen nor heard of that amp before.  Found a brief description online but no install PDF nor actual install docs.  It's supposed to mount under the tour pak on Ultra and its use requires an overlay harness that attaches to one of the connections on the Ultra overlay harness.  The amp itself and the added harness you'd need are both obsolete from Harley.  Without the Ultra's overlay harness you'd also apparently have no place to attach this extra harness.

Big suitcase of a thing for such a relatively limited amp.  Wouldn't work with most of the standard radios.  Need the Ultra setups with the overlay so you've got rear outputs.  Without the extra harness shown in that eBay listings second pic you'd still be out of luck making it work.  Interesting to see just because had never heard of it before.  Not sure I'd put much effort in to making it work though.
