Fullsac X-Pipe vs V&H Power Duals
« on: November 07, 2012, 11:49:25 AM »

I installed the Fullsac product on my CUSE4, but my dealer is recommending that I pre-install Power Duals on my incoming CUSE8-ANV.  I've been relatively happy with the Fullsac product, but I would like to take all suggestions into consideration.  Any thoughts from the CVO brain trust?

I had Power Duals and a SERT installed on my 13 CVO Ultra prior to my picking it up.  At the advice of the dealership I left the stock mufflers on for now so I could decide how loud I wanted to go.  Last dresser had Rinehart's they sounded great but I was ready for a little quieter ride.
1300 miles on now and I am very happy with the set up, great low end torque and I am surprised at how good the stock mufflers sound when I open it up.  I can not tell you if it is cooler with the Power Duals because I have nothing to compare it to.  It has only gotten into the upper 80s around here since I got it but so far I have not complaints about the heat on the right side.

I think the power and torque numbers will be close enough that it won't matter between the two.
However I do believe the heat will be greatly reduced with the Fullsac.
I have had the Power Duels before and the looks are kind of a corny look at me thing. But some people prefer that.

FYI: Fullsac makes a header just for the 110 motor, where the Vance and Hines headers are for all size motors 96, 103, 110.
Makes you think huh? Well it made me think anyway.

I had the Power Duals with V&H Monster Rounds on my last bike (FLTRUSE) and it was a great combo... but a bit on the loud side, especially for my wife as BSR. I ended up putting the stock pipes back on and did Fullsac cores. IMO, that's the best bang for your buck when it comes to exhaust.

Thanks to all for the feedback.  I am not looking for a change of exhaust sound, and I'm happy with the stock power.  However, I learned quickly with the CUSE4 how freakin' hot they are, and it was my primary motivation to do the work before.  If the Fullsac x-pipe is cooler than the Power Duals, that clinches it for me.   So, I've ordered the x-pipe and canceled the Power Duals.

To each his own but the fullsak will not be any cooler than the power duals since neither has a cat. I've run the power duals for 20,000 miles with no problems what so ever, i'm just say'n.

heat should be about the same with either pipe--cost is about the same--fullsac maintains the stock sleeper look...easy choice for me  :2vrolijk_21:

Fullsacs are ceramic coated (=cooler), whereas the V&H aren't.

I'm new to the CVO forum but not new to the game. I have had two Ultra's and one custom streetglide that I built. I just traded my 08 ulta classic for a new CVO Ultra and first 110.
Now back to the thread. I had Dresser Duals on my Ultra with monster ovals, on my 2010 Street Glide at first I put the power duals with the 4" Rhinehearts because a buddy of mine had them and I liked the sound. I liked the Dresser Duals or True Duals as some refer to with the Rhinehearts so that is what I went with on the new CVO and couldn't be happier. I bought a SE race tuner and my tech just added a map for now to add more fuel and reduce the heat and it definately works. The Fullsac is a fine product and yes its ceramic coated but their is no written evidence or testing that proves just how much cooler. In my opinion, not enough to make a difference. It's all about the map and or tune. I live in Sunny South Florida and I can tell you before I swapped the exhaust and put a map in it this 110 was clearly going to burn my leg off compared to my 96 and 103. Now I do not feel a thing. Well no difference that is from my 103. After all, you do have an engine under your legs.
I think the dresser duals give more of a deeper tone and that is my preference so ultimately it is what you prefer my friend. Either way you go I don't think you can go wrong as long as you add more fuel to that rear cylinder to cool it down.
