Gebing's plug question
« on: February 06, 2013, 12:10:30 PM »

I bought some new Gerbing's heated gear and was wondering about the plug.  The gear comes with a coaxial plug, my Road Glide has an SAE plug.  HD sell a coax to sae adapter for HD heated gear (gerbing makes the HD gear).  My question is, has anyone used the sae to coax adapter with gerbing gear.

I know it's a simple connection to the battery but Gerbing's issues a warning when using other manufactures connections.

Thanks

Tom

I've used the adapter with the Harley gear (made by Gerbing) for three seasons with no ill effects. On this bike I have the 'proper' connector for the heated gear and use an adapter to hook up the battery tender.

That Harley Coax to SAE adapter is for Coax to SAE, not SAE to Coax. The +/- are reversed if you use the SAE as power source and may affect a solid state temperature controller.
