engine noise question
« on: September 05, 2006, 01:33:00 PM »

my 06 SEUC has a  engine noise when I first start her up, the noise goes away after I ride for a few miles this noise is coming from the right side, I am going to take the bike in to the dealer soon. I suspect it is something like loose valves. my question is since I do have SERT, SE slip ons and high air flow a/c is this going to effect my warrenty, do I need to look at going back to stock before taking her in? thanks for the input!!

Since you have a SERT you can't really go back to stock, at least not on the ECM since the dealer would have to re-flash it for the stock map.

All I can tell you is my personal experience that I never had a problem with my dealer on my previous bike which had the SE Stage II & power commander.  The service writer always mentioned that I have a power commander but it never really was an issue and I had several warranty & extended warranty claims.

And I think they would have to make some linkage to your mods and the problem/failure to deny a claim.  But that is JMHO.

yea , the dealer that sold the bike to me did not say anything about warrenty issues, when he installed the sert, pipes and air cleaner. then when I had tuning problems I looked at the sert box and it said may effect warrenty [smiley=confused5.gif]

Hey Twincam,

I know this may sound silly but I had noise coming from the right side of my SEUC06 and found it was the brake peddle vibrating against the exhaust.  Have you checked this?  I know that while in Cripple Creek I emptied the bar as everyone came out to the parking lot to help me with this noise I had on the right side of the bike.  I think it was ErnieZap that pointed out the point of contact and we shaved the peddle.  The noise was gone!  Just a suggestion.

Thanks for the input canuck, will check that, but, it stops after about 30 miles or so. when it first started I thought it might be the heat covers over the exhuast rattling so you could be right! thanks again twincam

Hey twincam,

As I remember it, we considered the engine mounts and Grover offered to pull the jack out of his trailer so we could put it up to check properly but we never got that far because shaving the brake peddle seemed so much easier and there was still some beer left in the casino [smiley=drink.gif].

I have since checked the motor mount and mine is fine.  I would however like to switch to the Velva Ride I have read so much about.
