ACE I am not sure that I understand your post. The factory calibration that is in your ECM is ONLY available from the dealer. When you buy a race tuner it does not come with the "factory stock" calibration for your bike. So if you load a calibration for a harley stage 1 setting into your ecm, then poof your stock calibration is gone. To make matters worse there is no way you can download or look at the stock calibration so you can duplicate it with the race tuner. Having said that a stage 1 calibration is generally so mildly different that there would be no point in worrying about it. The race tuner does read the number of the calibration currently loaded into the ECM but that may only have been a starter map and could have been considerably modified and still have the same name. So the comment about as long as you leave the calibration set at the factory recommended calibration does not make sense and is untrue since the only way you can make a modification to the map is to load a new one in and by definition it will not be the "stock" map. I think the truth of the matter is that most dealers are willing to look the other way when it comes to warranty issues potentially related to performance modifications if they did the work and sold you the bike. Strictly speaking though, as soon as you make modifications the warranty is toast, and if they wanted to HD can deny your claim. And yes, I am aware of the ? magnusson - moss (can't remember exact name) act that you folks have and it will provide minimal protection for you if you make engine or tuning mods and something breaks. Oh, and as far as I know the ECM does not "remember" all of the calibrations you have programmed in. When you start up the race tuner it gives you the number of the calibration currently loaded into the ECM, but of course this will have been a map supplied with the race tuner and could have been considerably modified with the race tuner software, so there is no way to really know what is in there (at least for us). Maybe the digital technician that the dealer has can read the actual map_ I will have to ask about that, but you can be sure the ecm does not have the memory capacity to record all the maps and changes that have been made previously
