GPS wiring on a Breakout
« on: January 04, 2014, 09:19:25 PM »

Just installed a GPS mount on my Breakout.  Great look!

Considering the size of this plastic part on the wire (see picture), I gave up wiring through the bar.  Next, I tried to wire under the gas tank without removing it like I did before on my Rocker C (that was easy), but considering the pain I had to run a slim rod under the tank (lifted with a 2x4 at the rear), I doubt that I could route this wire without removing the tank...

The tank is full, it's winter (can't get out of the garage), and looking at the wires over the tank, I'm not in the mood to remove it...

Any Houdini here to give me some advice?   ???

Gas only weighs 6 lbs. per gallon.  It's really not all that bad to lift off a full tank.

Problem is not the weight...  Fuel tank can't be lifted without removing the crossover line.  Ands I don't think this is possible without draining the fuel.

Then, HD wired over the tank from front to rear.  Didn't have time to look closely but I guess that they used connectors at one of the ends.  This should not be a problem, just makes me...

As I said before, I ain't no mechanic but I like doing things myself.  Removing a fuel thank should not need a master's degree, I will see that when spring arrives...    :-\

Thank's !

Add to that it is "fluid" weight... it's going to be moving/sloshing in the tank.... as you move the fluid/weight shifts... lot easier to start off with an empty/almost empty tank and not have to worry about that movement and dropping the tank. :shocked2: :bigcry:
