twin rail saddlebag guards SEUC4
« on: October 20, 2009, 11:42:44 AM »

I ordered a set of twin rail saddlebag guards, part 90892-09, for my SEUC4 and the catologue says they fit the FLHTCUSE4 but I had to take off the saddlebag filler strip in order to mount them. Anyone else tried these or know a solution to keep the filler strip on the bike?

Run a search on "measurements" and you'll see the reply to my query.  Alternatively you can replace your filler strips with chrome ones that are already notched to accomodate the guards.  I like the looks of the ones that he customized and you get to keep the color coordinated filler strips.  But there is absolutely nothing wrong with more chrome either. :P  BTW, grew up in Moab!

If I'm not mistaken, I believe the chrome notched filler strips will only accommodate the RK style guards.

That looks good on your 08 SEUC White/Silver. Harley has come out with even a newer rail light setup for the saddle bags. I will post a picture of it when I find it.

Those are the nostalgic rails (part 91286). Those chrome filler strip inserts don't work with the twin rail guards (part no. 90892-09).

The MoCo changed the frame on the 09 & '10 so the '08 filler strips don't work.

Had the same issue with my 09 Ruby CVO.  HD book said the standard Ultra Classic rails were interchangable.  They are if you wish to remove the rails.  I didn't wnat to remove them so the local HD shop used four Street Glide antenna gromments and this is what it looks like. I like it.

Remember - if you do this please paint the machined areas otherwise you have rust streeks in a couple months, or less.

Ultrafun,
do you have the measurements of the drilling holes on the filler strip?
