The War Amps key tags.....
« on: January 29, 2013, 11:38:02 PM »

....work!
I got a message from War Amps that Home Depot  had a set of my keys. I had been there a few days earlier, wearing a jacket I 'never' wear, and somehow left a set of keys there that I did not even know were in the jacket....so, I would not have had a clue as to where to look for them, whenever that may have been.  Gonna send them another $50 on top of what I normally send every year.

It was my idea for Home Depot to start that program.......send me the 50 bucks. They sold over $3M in gift cards that were not redeamed!!!!!

It's not  Home Depot program. That's just where I happened to lose the keys with a
War Amps Key Tag on them. The Home Depot called War Amps...and the War Amps notified me that my keys were at the Home Depot.
The other way that I have heard of keys being returned is that a set of found keys (with a War Amps Key Tag on them) is simply dropped into a mail box...they go to War Amps......ah...here's a link: http://www.waramps.ca/faq/keytags.html

Looks like it's only in Canada.

Yep, force me to learn. Have always wondered if those lost key fobs would work. Glad it did for you, you can still send me the fifty :coolblue:

War Amps uses donations from you and me to purchase prosthetics for kids who are amputees, they generate support for the program by sending out plastic ID tags that have a unique serial number on them that the donor attaches to their keys. If the keys ever get found traditionally they get tossed in any mailbox and then the post office folks deliver them to War Amps, they search the serial number and mail them back to the looser!

Never had to use them, but have a tag on all my keys!

That makes it even clearer, Murph. Us guys in the Lower 48 are out of luck though. I contacted War Amps and , for now, this service is only available for our Northern Brothers. The lady said they had been having inquiries from the States and might start offering it.....but not now. She gladly accepted my small donation and said it would show as from the US.
