You will be left with short pieces sticking out from where the factory splices are. These went to one of the plugs you already cut out. I cut these short and slipped heat shrink over them. This keeps the existing wires long enough to reach across the fairing and seals them.

When you go to the bike, find the wires for the Ipod and splice the like colors in. Make sure to leave enough slack when you cut so that you can work the wires for the splicing. Solder them and srink 'em. Now you are seeing why they need to be kept long. The NIM box mounts on the other side of the fairing.

Now, you will do the 35 pin connector. I hate these things! BUT you won't have to add connectors, Your two bare pins go in as in the previous posts from others. I'll try to post the diagram later.
Be careful not to break the tabs that hold the 35 together. It is made up of several parts. Release the orange inner and remove it. Remove the corresponding white plugs, and insert and lock your new pin ins. Then carefully replace the orange part making sure the pins stay in place. I broke one of the tabs but all works fine so don't stress if you break one.
My phone died so I do not have any pictures of this. Actually I lost the phone shorty after while riding but downloaded the pictures seen here prior.

I ended up with this after getting everything routed and covering the wires with Kury wire loom covers.

Before you stick the XM antenna make sure it is slid back as farr as possible so the it does not hit the outer faring.

One last thing. I did the aux to the rear of the radio as well. Get a magnifying glass!! I did mod as others had by removing the part from the board. All works fine. It shows the female exiting the rear of the radio, which I did. This requires the patch cord still be used to connect to the NIM. If I had used the male end, I could have plugged directly to the NIM and eliminated the extra wire of the patch cable.

Props on a sucessfull install.

One observation. Tyco makes the 35 pin connector and has instructions on their website explicitly staring NOT to remove the orange "wedge lock". The lock only needs to be open, not removed.
