Geez look at that poor bastard's spine.  Shakespeare wasn't kidding.

Is it really that big of news to find the body of an old dead king from over 600 years ago who was only king a couple years?  Don't ask to be sarcastic but out of real curiosity.  We're just not old enough to have such concerns over here.

Richard III is admittedly one of your bits of history that has always left me perplexed.  The whole Richard III society and the Ricardians and all the rest of the centuries long interest in a guy that served for two years during the seemingly interminable War of the Roses is (to most of us on this side of the pond) a little difficult to get our heads around.

Is it Shakespeare's writing of him or that he was the last King to die in battle that stoked the interest for so long?  Or some combination?  Or is it just a British thing with all your old dead Kings?  Hell, most of us can't even name our Presidents back to WWII.  Closest thing to a Richard III society here would be a bunch of college history majors making a drinking game about James Garfield.

Pete, couldn't use the link you posted to the Sky news but did find the same story on Foxnews.com.  Interesting that they can find, identify and prove it was actually Richard III after all these hundreds of years based on DNA from a distant relative.  Ain't technology wonderful?  Now, why can't we have a cell phone with full signal everywhere?   :2vrolijk_21:

Who would have thought the distent relative would turn out to be a Canadian wood worker from Richard III's sister Anne of York.
The cell phone service isn't anything to have a party about over here ether Howard

Twolaner, it's definitely a British thing, two the monarchy, as so thy have all there history in a basket. Along with all those that want to stay on the invitation list to Buckingham Palace wingdigs. As for the most of the Quote, "common pepole"... no one's to bothered as much
