CVO Road King questions
« on: January 06, 2013, 08:48:56 AM »

Hi I am looking at buying the Anniversary CVO road King.

I currently have a 2011 that I was looking at dumping a ton of money into chrome controls, cruise control, apes, chrome front end, shocks and wheels. With all that it seems best to do the CVO. For all the money I would put into mine I would never see the money back.

One of my questions is how well with the Anniversary CVO hold it value. With them making only 900 it would seem like they should. I would be moving my Vance and Hines true duels and Thundermax over along with my highway pegs. I would also be looking at adding some Carlini flying apes to it.

I have noticed some differences between the CVO and the Anniversary version that my dealer seemed a little baffled by. i am surprised that on the Anniversary they did a 17" front 16"rear and on the non anniversary they did the 19" front and a 18" rear. Also notice they 2 show a different wheel base. They other oddity is a difference in compression ratio.
Can any of you confirm if these differences are correct or if they are wrong and what they should be.

I know there are several people who do not believe the CVO to be worth it. I am sure several people on this forum went threw what I am trying to decide what way to go and would like to hear their thoughts on this.

Thanks

Don't think you will find anyone on here that will say a CVO (Screamin Eagle) is not worth it. I had a Low Rider that i dumped a lot of money into, Then discovered the world of CVO (SE) and have never looked back. But just because it's a CVO, That does not mean  you can't always find something to buy to add to your bike.

Look at my avatar, That's a 07 Screamin Eagle (CVO) Road King and that's not the way it came from the MOCO.

There are errors on HD's website for the specs of the CVO RK.  Shameful that they haven't been corrected.

I thought the only difference was the color and the badge.  :nixweiss:

My CVO Road King anniversary color has a 21 up front and a 18 rear.

Other than color and badging and seat it is identical to the other 2013 CVO Road Kings

I have only used the HD race tuner- they have always worked well with my CVOs.

I have used the TTS master tune on my last 3 CVO bikes.  I think it is the way to go.

I have had the Thundermax on my 07 SE Road King for several years with no problems, Changed exhaust systems twice, Only thing i had to do was ride it. I did run into the folks from Thundermax last summer at the TN State Hog Rally and got them to tweak it because it was running a little bit rich after I put the V&H HI Outputs on it.

To me buying a CVO is worth it and I like the way they come from the factory. I have never had a hard time selling any of mine. My view of the anniversary is if you like the paint, go for it. Being a 105th anniversary, again you have to find the right buyer. To me 105th or 110th or others not the 100th, 150th and so forth are not quite as special. I have always bought the model I wanted first and then chose the color.
