Tire Pressure ?
« on: December 14, 2009, 12:53:32 PM »

Hi Everyone, Just got my FLSTSE and noticed my owners manual has no tire pressure recommendations for these new Low Profile Tires.
The side of the tire says 42 PSI, but nothing in the owners manual (solo, two up,heavy load) like all the other Harley's I've owned in the past.
I actually read the manual twice page by page and it's just not in my manual.
Anybody with info on this can please post it for us.
Thank's in Advance, MrGPD

$.02:  I have not looked at the Convertible's tire recommendation on the sidewall but lower tire profiles require higher air pressures.  I would bet the side wall number is a maximum number.  I would follow the tire manufacturer's specs before anyone else's.  The rear usually gets a few pounds more than the front.  Are both tires the same?  If they both say 342 try running 38 in the front and 40 rear for single and a couple of pounds more each two up.  JMHO

You can also e mail Dunlop through their website with the question.  Please post their answer!

Merry Christmas to all!

I find it totally amazing that H-D sold you a bike that doesn't have inflation specs listed in the manual.  See if that manual they gave you has a phone number for H-D Customer Service, and then give them a call.  If they in fact put out manuals that didn't include inflation specs for the tires, they may have another safety recall coming to fix that little oversight.

Is is on page 21, Specifications, Table 11.  Front 36psi, rear 42psi.
Hope this helps.

Thanks to all that responded to this post. I  really couldn't find this information in the manual because I looked in the index under TIRES.
Never thought to look under Specs.
The tire pressures listed are cold front 36 and cold rear 42 ( as stated by another forum member) (and also on the label of the front right down tube as stated by another forum member).
I'm going to assume (I really hate that word) that it's going to be the same for two-up riding as solo (since there's nothing in Specs about two-up). Hope that doesn't get me in any trouble.

I'm also going to contact Dunlap and see if they can add any advice about these Low Profile Tires. I've never had LP Tires on any bike before.

Thanks again for all the help. I don't post a bunch but I read a bunch. I've learned more from "CVO Forums" than any others I read.

Go to your HD dealer and have them fill the tires with nitrogen. Nitrogen does not expand and contract with temp changes.

Merry Christmas to all!

I have my tire pressure values on a sticker on my left front fork......36-42lbs  respectively.

This is a great idea.  We used to do it with race car tires and it works great.
