Our investment club does something different each year for our annual meeting in January.  We are looking to possibly go someplace where there is a racetrack that rents fast cars.  Are there any in the US?  Not to race, but to drive a fast car. And have you been to one, how do they work? Thanks

Many of the major tracks have programs available...  With cars and instructors.

Skip Barber is popular.  They have opportunities at about a dozen or so different tracks.  Corporate outings, etc.  Different types of cars available to choose from.  I have some friends that work as instructors at a few of them.

Look into Spring Mountain Raceway. They have a webb site. It's just north of Las Vegas Nevada. They have z06 Corvettes and the ctsv. Good place to go and Vegas is always a good bet.

Would strongly suggest the Nascar Experience, you can feel it in your butt! Ride alongs are pretty cheap. Costs more to drive, but its worth it. Based on your level they limit your speed to 160 mph.

I've done this twice and highly recommend the experience: http://www.racewithrusty.com/  They advertise as the only provider that allows passing, don't know if that's true or not though.

A couple of tips - choose the earliest time slot in the day as they end up running late and an afternoon slot could get pushed to the next day.  Go to a Super Speedway, it's a much better experience.  Do the Shootout or greater package with a ride-a-long first if you've never done it before.  Search the net for deals, they typically have 1/2 off coupons available.  If combining packages, add the lesser of them at the track for a further discount.

I did the "20 lap" special at the Memphis Motorsports Speedway once.  Cost was about $600.  Had to go through a morning ground school then a couple of laps with the instructor then was turned loose solo for my 20 laps.  Received a photo of myself by the car with my best lap time on it.  Had a blast.

If you want to drive a Ferrarri 458 as fast as you can on a racetrack I recommend http://www.exoticdriving.com/race-track/orlando-walt-disney-world-speedway/. I've done it a couple times and had a blast.
