Need Some Positive Reinforcement
« on: March 17, 2013, 10:11:29 PM »

I've been bitten by the new bike bug and been looking around. My '07 SEUC hasn't given me any issues, I have it the way I want it and it's paid for but I really like a lot of the features on the newer bikes, primarily ABS brakes. I've seen all the colors and am most impressed with the anniversary edition, no color snap but it has a clean classic look. The dealer I bought my current bike from is offering $21,500 in trade and selling at MSRP plus freight and prep. I know this is as good a deal as I could probably find elsewhere but am still hesitant to pull the trigger. Any feedback on any bargaining tools I could use? Upgraded lighting is the first thing on my list, I put LED's on my 07 and can't believe they aren't standard on all CVO bikes.

Have them transfer the LEDs to the the '13.  I did that, plus had a few other mods from my '04 SEEG swapped over to my '12 SEUC.  $21,500 seems like a pretty good deal on the '07, especially if you don't have to replace some of the mods you've done.

Real bikers do not need reinforcement.    :coolblue:   Positive or otherwise!   :coolblue:    Having said that, do what the heck you want!  You only live once.  I will try to negotiate a Stage 1 kit and an upgraded suspension. Good luck to you!   :2vrolijk_21:

you are getting a great deal...most people know the '07s had issues, some of them alot of issues...I went through 3 sets of head gaskets and one oil pump before I gave up and bought my '09.  now i have a 13 and it is not riding correctly, turbulence, very skittish?, just generally uncomfortable or nervousness, so i am fighting with Harley and the dealer once again...should have kept the '09.

Pull the trigger, the new frame and ABS brakes are worth the price of admission. You will be glad you did.

I'd do it! You only live once. The difference in handling between the '09-later and the older Touring bikes is amazing with the new frame. On a new bike, you get all the bells and whistles like ABS, etc. $21,500 is a very good trade-in for your '07, too. Negotiating the fork upgrades would be an excellent idea, too... I can't believe Harley still puts old damper rod crap forks on CVOs.

Good luck!
