Time to rebuild my SERG
« on: January 05, 2013, 08:01:15 PM »

Well Im turning a new leaf, and putting the accident behind me... moving on to the rebuild.

I saved a ton of money off eBay. But getting the screaming eagle back on was going to be rough. HD wants $1500 for a factory fairing.... maybe... might be ready in 6 months time...

So the local HD dealer called in their painter... he can reproduce the decal using a scanner for $50 a piece... I said deal... my new black fairing off ebay only cost me $270.

Put new tires and did the whole fluids change.

All the big mags kept pointing to the cam adjusters as a needed upgrade, so I pulled the covers to inspect... glad I did, maybe 1000 miles left in the oldstyle. The oil pump was also showing wear. (bike has 29K miles). The upgrade comes with a new high output oil pump and does not wear out like the older system... so that has been ordered.

This is going so smooth I might have her back my my garage by March

'Never knew the Eagle on the fairing was a decal, not paint, are the other graphics decals also, or are they painted on?

I know this may sound really strange, but I was having thoughts about changing the paint of my '09 SERG into the O/B '00 SERG

Well I hope that's not the best job they do when it comes time to clean up... they told me they would clean it up and make it shine for my pick up Sat.... it was covered in WD40 over-spray, and grease.  And of course the bill was for more than I had approved.

But she is home now

Nothing more special than a man reunited with his bike

Freedom Harley in Ottawa will have the decal on file, the rest after the fairing is paint
