Throttle buzzing.
« on: April 11, 2013, 11:15:58 PM »

My throttle started having a buzzing sound when I'm down shifting.
Noticed it twice when starting it too.
Best I can describe it is, it sounds like a cross between an
Electrical short and one of those hand buzzers you get from the joke shop.
Any ideas before I take it to the dealer?
It's a 2011 convertible.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm, I have no idea!

If it was a short then you would think the throttle by wire would not work.

Let us know what happens.

Probably a loose part responding to vibrations from the engine.  Check the brake lever, mirror, switch housing screws, etc.

Have you added an inline fuel enrichment module?  Some of them have caused electronic throttle failures.

No additions. Just stock.
Been too busy working to check for loose parts
But  I will today.

Nothing loose at the throttle. Now when hering it again I'm not sure it's coming from the throttle side. Sounds like it might be in the cover around the headlight maybe. Would the abs system make a buzzing sound?

Well of course the tech couldn't here anything at Legacy HD in midland tx.
If they even tried? I'm almost convinced its coming from the abs system that's hidden behind the fork cover.
Any help? I'm supposed to pick my bike up this afternoon and will most likely here it first time i hit the brakes.
And have to turn around and take it back up there.

Same thing on my '08....loosened the clamp and pushed the grip on a bit....only moved about a 1/64"...but no more 'buzz'.

Well it turned out to be the abs system after all.
They pressured up on the system and the hose busted where it went into the abs.
Since I have aftermarket bars and the cables were changed to fit the apes
I get to pay for it all. Oh well, they did do a good job routing the new cable so I'm happy.
Wallets a bit lighter. No more buzz.
Also had an oil cooler installed and it made a very noticeable difference in the heat.
