WHY THE POPPING?????
« on: April 23, 2013, 07:25:29 PM »

After having my CVO RG dynoed, tuner installed, new dual headers, stock mufflers my scooter was sounding and running great.
I replaced the stock muffs with a new set of Street Cannons, dynoed again--- scooter runs like lightning but has a noticeable popping noise on deceleration(didn't exist with stock muffs

Any comments / ideas appreciated.  BTW cannons sound really good but not so much for the popping

Except for the possibility of an exhaust leak, tuning should be able to eliminate that popping. I had the same problem when I put the Rinehardt's on my bike and Steve from Fullsac sent me an updated map that took care of the problem. Your dyno tuner should be able to fix it.

Dont know what tuner you have, but you can increase the settings in the leftmost column of the main lambda table to richen up the cells for the RPMs in which the decel popping is occurring. I had to richen up my numbers in this column about 15% from 1750 to 3000 to eliminate all of my decel popping with my 259e cams and Drago's 2-1 exhaust. I still get the occasional pop when aggressively riding the mountain twisties around here, but not very often.

You can also DECREASE the amount of enleanment in the decel enleanment table for different RPMs, but these values are only effective for a short time.

I have found that richening the main lambda (or AFR) table first column is a very effective way to eliminate decel popping for prolonged periods of deceleration at different RPMs and road conditions... several seconds or longer.

If the map used has the injectors turned off at 0%  adding fuel will not help, there are certain combos that will created some what of an issue when tuning. I have found where certain maps will cause the issue and others with the same style set up will not.  Start with the easy stuff and see if the issue will go away. Swapping maps cals in the copy paste style will not work as they are never the same in the background.
