For those of you who have the HD clamp on style windshields, do the clamps leave marks of any kind on the forks?  I would like to get one for longer trips, but don't want anything leaving marks on the forks.  Thanks for any info.

The clamps have rubber gaskets, so I would assume the fork sliders would be protected from gouging or scratching assuming you keep the gaskets clean when installing.  As for stains, there is an easy way to avoid that.  Get some of the clear paint protection film in a narrow strip and apply it to the sliders where the clamps will be.  Buy a roll of the stuff and replace it as necessary.  I use it for other things, not a clamp-on windshield, and it comes in handy.  You can buy it by the foot in various widths from a place called Pro-Tint.

I use one and no marks have been left. I did put a size cut piece of thick clear tape on the inside of the clamping piece and have never had a problem.

Do you mean like clear packing tape or something more specialized?

use clear upholstery repair tape available at Auto Zone or O'Reilly's Auto Parts. it is thicker and stretchy and much tougher than packing tape.

No marks. Stays in place. Speed tested to 118 MPH! I did not want to break my electric speedometer that stops at 120.
