Can anyone explain to me why (of all things) shift rods are so frakking expensive?

Wondered the same thing.  Then had to wonder if they already had as I couldn't find the part on the website  [smiley=oops.gif].

Got to wonder if those carry some contour to conform to the cowbell horn cover or if they're flat.  If flat on their backside you could put them just about anyplace.  Cool ideas come to mind for a few of their selections there.

[smiley=nixweiss.gif]  Too big to cover the place where the subtorf came off of, eh?   [smiley=nixweiss.gif]  I'm still grappling with that problem.  Argh!

F Y I   if you replace the horn DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN the nut on the back of the horn.  I think MAX TQ is 55 inch pounds.
the nut with lock-tite needs to be able to slip a little.  If you over tighten this the horn will sound like a dead GOOSE!
Please don't ask me how I know this as I learn every thing the HARD WAY!

But instead of buying the original horn Advance Auto has the same horn 139db for I think $15.95.

[smiley=nervous.gif] I can also testify that nut is sensitive to overtightening and when you do, its over.  Gave me the motivation to do the air horn conversion.  Glad I was ham-fisted now!  [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

Candy, my final solution on the SUBTOTBF has been to just never cut a corner so sharply I can see my own rear end.
