Accessory Switch Connector in Road King Headlight Nacelle
« on: December 19, 2012, 12:16:11 PM »

I'm trying to see if it's possible to hook my GPS up to the accessory switch deutsch connector in the FLHRSE5 headlight nacelle, but I can't find any information on the terminal ends that work with the connector.  :nixweiss: :nixweiss: I want to use my Zumo 660 from the Ultra on the RK also.  I've searched numerous places and my dealer can't find the information so I'm turning to my fellow CVO owners in hope someone else has used this connector.  The bike comes with both pieces of the connector (2 pin with a black and a white wire) and it looks like a miniature version of the accessory connector under the seat.  Just need the info for the terminal ends.

The accessory connector in the FLHRSE5 headlight Nacelle is just a simple female spade connector if my memory serves me.  I connected my remote garage door opener transmitter to it, its an orange wire and there is also a black ground one.

Same as my Road King, and I am running both the GPS and the Garage door transmitter to it.

Where are you going to mount the GPS?

I have been debating how I will do it on mine.

On my 07 SERK3 its under the seat in front of battery.

Dave,

I'm going to use the chrome HD Zumo handlebar mount that attaches to the left controls.  It puts the Zumo right where I want it, it's pretty non-obtrusive and it looks good.

I'm pretty hard headed, and I really want to use the Deutsch connector that is there for accessories, so I dropped the connector and the Zumo wiring off at my dealer this morning to see if they can put the pins on.  Plan B is to use the wires mentioned by Dave and Plan C is to use the underseat accessory connector, which I don't really want to do.

Garage door opener is one of my next projects....

I'll post final results once I get this figured out.

Ok.  I used that mount on my 09 CVO Road glide and black powder coated on the 12CVO road glide.  Not sure if I want it on DaKing.

Just use the wiring of your headlight. Easy to access and it is automatically switched off when you pull out your key.

Dave, why don't you want to use that mount on your RK?  Was there something about it you didn't like?

My dealer put the terminals on, I just need to get it installed, which may not be until next weekend. I like having the ability to use the accessory switch and connector...as it was intended to be used.  I'll post a complete "how I did it" with pics once I am done.

Loved it on the 09 with stock handle bars.  Looks great, works great.

On the 12 looks great, works great but with 14" apes it is a bit to close to my face.  I am seriously looking at running the same 14" apes on DaKing, so looking at alternatives for mounting the GPS.

i know i'm digging up an old thread, but i am interested if the OP ever got this completed with the connector in the nacelle?  i want to do the same thing and would love the electrical part numbers.

thx - tin

I bought the HD Handlebar mount. I like it.
I used the Wiring Harness that came with my zumo 660. Short run down into nacell and then I went Under the Console back the fuse box, Left the plugs under the seat close to the aft end of the tank. I use the SENA Blutooth, so need for them
