I am going to run my I phone with the Garmin app this year mounted in a Rider claw. I am hoping this works well.

I've used a couple of auto GPS's and both worked fine but they are not waterproof so I can only use them in good weather :nixweiss:

I've used a couple different models of Garmin Nuvi's, mounted in waterproof cases.  No problems except one developed a short in the power cable.

I used a Garmin Nuvi on my Heritage for nearly two years with no problems, but I never got caught in the rain.

I've used a Garmin with touch screen, and a Tom Tom with touch screen, both worked fine, but as I said, I didn't use them in bad weather.

What about stepping back a generation Brian?  Just looked and there are Garmin 2620s on eBay cheap.  Saw two for $30 and another just a bit more.  They were great units, simple to use and waterproof so can be used on the bike without worry.  I still use my 2620 as much as I use the Zumo 660.

I have used Garmin Nuvi 550 for years has worked very good.
I called Garmin the guy I spoke with was Great I told him a Zummo was too much $$ for me what else would he recommend.
He said the Nuvi 550.  It even has a motorcycle icon.
I have just upgraded to the Zumo 660 for Bluetooth.

I've used a GPS direct from China with great success. Just put a freezer bag over it when it rains. These units will also store your music, pictures,
ebooks, and will link to your cell phone. Hard wire or wireless to you radio for music and directions and for less than $80.00 delivered with free map updates. Check this post   http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=42813.0

Move it closer to the grip and I'll give her another lesson. She already has the best one out there.

I have used the Garmin 1390 LMT for the past 2 years , but not in the rain as it is not water proof.
No problems with it , and was able to purchase the mount and charging cable wired to the battery and used the aux switch on the dash.

I have just upgraded to the Zumo 660 for Bluetooth.

I was members of this forum that I recommended I get a Bluetooth Headset with my new Zumo 660.
I fully concur with their suggestion. The Voice Directions are great, especially for those times where the screen is hard to see, even with a sun shield.
I bought a SENA SPH10 and it works very nicely with my Zumo 660 on my 03 SERK

:) - My 70 year old neighbor, riding buddy, loves his Dunkin Doughnuts Coffee and a snack every 50 or 60 miles.
I went to a POI Webpage and found a POI for DDs. Just like the HD Dealers, I can show DD Shops.

I tried several different voices. Garmin Jill seems to be the least obnoxious for now.
Garmin Dave is like riding with Don Rickles
