Hemrick HID passing lamp problems
« on: May 12, 2013, 10:56:47 PM »

I've emailed company several times, sent pics, left messages, no response. I'm not looking for a new set of reflectors for free, just wanted another option to be able to continue using the HID's. I've had no issues with the dual headlamp, but as you can see from the pics, the bulbs for the passing lamps melt the reflectors.

Anyone else have these and run into this problem? I doubt I'm the only one, unless he sent me wrong bulbs that are too powerful.

In any event, I spent the day removing the whole "kit" for the passing lamps and ordered a set of custom dynamics sun spots. I'm hoping that they're close, if not identical, color temperature to the headlight. These will at least fix the problem of melted reflectors by replacing them. Bonus for me is that since I've removed 2 of the 4 HID's and ballasts my FM reception has increased substantially. So I'll hang onto these, maybe put em in my car fog lamps or just save ballasts in case headlamp fails down the road.  Just disappointed with Hemrick's lack of customer service.

Clark hemrick died a few months back. Last I heard his son was taking over the HiDs but not sure how far that got.

Well that sadly answers some questions. I know the contact page referenced that his son was taking over and thats where I last sent my unanswered emails.

Well I got the sun-spot LEDs by custom dynamics. $200 for the pair new on eBay. Disappointed that they're not glass lenses, but I kinda figured that'd be the case. Easy install with included wire-taps. I'd say about 1k difference in color temp between them and the HID. LEDs are pure white without the slight hint of blue. Haven't had the chance to try them at night, but they look very bright as most of CD's LEDs are. One very nice thing that happened is I no longer have FM interference. Still have HID hi and lo headlamp, but it had to be the passing lamp setup that gave the interference.
