Aftermarket detachable tourpack mounts on eBay- Any good?
« on: May 07, 2013, 10:34:00 PM »

Anyone have/using one of those no name-aftermarket detachable tourpack mounts on ebay?   Ive been looking for a detachable tourpack mount for my '13 roadglide and all I'm finding are those aftermarket (unk brand) racks for baggers.  For anywhere from $30-50 less than the factory oem mount, they look the same and the price is right but I'm a lil concerned if there's a reason besides that it didn't come from the MoCo...  Thoughts from anyone who went that route?

Why would you spend $33,000 on a top of the line bike and then worry about trying to save a few bucks by buying a cheap imitation bracket that probably won't fit right? Just go to the shop, buy the right stuff.

It's easy to make this a first assumption.  The only trouble is the history is full of examples of mother Harley's corner cutting and better options for the same or less money in the aftermarket.  The aftermarket may not always present a better option.  But Harley's parsimony and frequency of mistake have made it where it's at least not a bad idea to double check the aftermarket.

Exactly twolaner, I'm not opposed to aftermarket...it is, after all, how most us attempt to better or differ our machines from stock or others.  Top of the line bike or not, why pay more on dealer parts if theres a cheaper and equal or better alternative. Why I'm looking for feedback from anyone who has bought & is using one these racks off eBay, and their thoughts on it.

I agree.

I have a close and two up after market and both are great, everyone needs to be aware that most MoCo parts are not made in the US of A.

Ebay is fine.     :2vrolijk_21:

I looked at them but they were only 10 dollars cheaper than I can buy one from Kutter Harley on the web. I have decided when I get the rest of the money for the tour pack saved up, which is a lot cheaper from Kutter also, to just get the Harley offering.
