Factory Alarm Problem

Gentlemen, My 2001 SE Glide started chirping at me from time to time just sitting in my shop without the alarm set. Then a few weeks later, it started going off for a few seconds while I was riding it ( usually when I stopped at a light with the blinker on ) the siren quit chirping when I set the alarm with the fob so I replaced the siren unit. It started doing the same thing, only the first time I tried to ride it with the new siren it went off quite a bit just trying to pull out of the driveway forcing me to turn around. I killed the ignition and waited for it decide to stop going off and I unplugged the siren unit. A few seconds after unplugging it, the siren unit started going off again and the only way to shut it up was pull out the 9V battery. None of the cycle mechanics I have talked to have heard of this. The alarm system works fine, but just not with the siren unit plugged in. It all worked fine when I bought the bike last year, but I hardly ever used it. Any help would be appreciated. Bud C.

Have you tried a new 9v battery?

I may have figure something out, even though my 12 volt battery was less than a year old and the new siren unit should have had a new 9 volt battery, I think my alarm system is very sensitive to low 12 volt power. Even though the bike was starting and the problem was even occuring with the bike running and the voltmeter reading  12+ volts. I charged the battery overnight and tried everything the next day it all seems to be working correct. Not sure why the alarm would flake out when the battery voltage was still enough to start the bike or why it flaked out with the engine running, but at least it has not chirped at me for the last two days. It does chirp now when I  turn the alarm on or off like it is suppose to do. I am going to keep my fingers crossed and keep a trickle charger on it since I don't ride it that often.( I have a couple of other bikes also )
