Throttle Handgrip sticking
« on: May 31, 2013, 05:10:52 PM »

Is there a way to Adjust or Lube the Handgrip Throttle. Mine is getting stiff and not rotating smoothly. If I try to make small adjustments it seams to bind. Any suggestions?????

If the grip is binding against the switch housing, you can loosen the screws for the housing and create a little clearance (side to side play).  If that isn't the problem, the next most likely issue is a defective electronic throttle sensor in the end of the handlebar.  The fix for that is replacement.

Thanks, I think it's the sensor since I did losen up the housing to see if it was binding anywhere. I was going to put some graphite in to see but before I did that I wanted to check here.
I'll have it checked out tomorrow since I will be taking my 2013 CVO RoadGlide in for its 10k service, wow 10k since I bought it in November.
I also have another issue to have them fix, it seems that when I play my IPod the Left Rear Speaker cuts in and out.

The first time I noticed the throttle grip sticking on my 09 I took it to the dealer.  The mechanic buggered up the heated handgrip somehow and didn't fix the problem.  After the heated handgrip was replaced, it began to stick again.  I got a can of Tri-Flow spray lubricant and lightly lubed the area around the housing.  Problem solved. It hasn't stuck since and it's been since late 2011.

My '12 did that at 15K... the dealer lubed it up while they ordered the correct part. within 3 weeks it was doing it again.

A sticky throttle is nothing to play around with.

Let the dealer fix it or if youre out of warranty you can replace it yourself.

MOCO has evidently sourced a bad bunch of sensors.  I've had the problem now twice on my FLHXSE3.  The sensor is dragging internally and gets progressively worse with time.  Makes low rpm maneuvering a challenge.

Should be under warranty, we will see.
