Tail light repalcement...help!!
« on: October 10, 2006, 08:06:32 PM »

OK, I got the replacement part for my taillight and have gotten the wiring connections disconnected, I am having trouble getting the connection "board" to seperate from the bolt on chrome connector. I dont want to force it and I dont feel any screws inside the fender(Other than the main screw that I have already removed) anyone have any experiance that could offer some advice? I will take a pic or two and try to post.
Thanks, Rick

I am sorry to say I don't have the manual for my bike. (Obviously my next purchase) If someone has the schematic for the taillight and can scan it in, I should be able to figure it out from there.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.

Rick;
Are you trying to get the chrome mount off of the fender? If so there is the one screw and a tab that hooks into the fender. There is also a piece of foam tape on the backside that sometimes is stuck to the fender that make the removal of the chrome mount a b*tch. The circuit board is held in by screws from the back side if I remember right. I am not at home so I can't check for you until tonight.

Yes I am....The tab that hooks into the fender, does it snap in? Or is it kind of a slot? I am not worried about breaking the tab as I have the replacement part. Maybe it is the tape that is giving me the trouble? Any advice would be appreciated.

The tape is most likely what is holding you up. The tab is at the bottom and you need to lift up slightly to clear it. The last one that I did was a huge pain. Try to take some dental floss between the fender and the mount to release the tape.

Good Luck
