Tire Pressure Front and Rear
« on: August 06, 2013, 12:14:41 AM »

My buddy took his 2010 EGC to the local H-D dealer to have a new rear tire put on and when they aired it up they told him that the new tire pressure recommendation from Harley was 45 psi in the rear tire and 38 psi in the front.
Has anyone heard of this change in tire pressure??

Hadn't heard anything official, but I run 38/42 solo, 40/45 2-up.

Could be that they figured he was going to ride two up.
We are heading to the 110th in Milwaukee in less than three weeks and his wife will be on the bike with him.
He may have mentioned that to the mechanic and that's why the 38 and 45 psi.

I think I'd want to see that "recommendation" in writing, and not just accept some verbal comment from some guy at a dealership.  Dunlop still shows 40 psi recommended, 42 psi max.

Ask your friend what the tire sidewall says for MAX inflation pressure on that new tire.  That is what the folks who actually designed and manufactured the tire say is the maximum, and I'd believe that rather than some of the stuff that comes out of dealership employee's mouths.
