Does anyone know or remember how to update Zumo 550 maps "THE OLD WAY" need to update all North American maps before Sturgis adventures

The memory in a 550 is limited and the maps data size has grown to large for the entire North America map to fit, so you have to choose just a section. Like North East, South East, Mid West, etc.

The other way is to put a memory card in the 550 and load the North American map to the memory card. It is a pain in the butt to use but it works.

Another alternative is to spring for a nice new 660 or 665.

Take a look at this thread on the Zumo Forum - Load All Maps/Splitting between SD Card - Updated 6/13/13 & with Garmin Express. As Bissjim just stated due to the size of the maps you can not load all of the USA/Canada maps on the unit itself anymore. Most of us that still have the 550's and want to have all the maps loaded now load them all on a SD card. I have a 16GB card that I'm using to hold all my maps and music.

there have been many problems reported with the Garmin Express - try the old mapupdater if you didn't already install Garmin Express. Works flawlessly with the install on SD card.
