CLB's
« on: June 26, 2013, 06:14:10 PM »

Wondering what people are doing with the clb's these days and why, do you change them to a pre-conceived best afr or leave them as is in the original cal or is there some correlation between build specs and or bike type that sways the numbers in a certain direction and if so why?
For what its worth mine are at 720, for no other reason than when I first started using TTS that was advised as a good bias to run with.

I like to use variable values when custom tuning. This allows you to move the target mixture based on running conditions. Let say your build runs 1500 - 3500 RPM at light cruise of 45 - 65 kPa. You can go into that area and move the CLB's to a leaner value to help with Fuel Economy and since that area is with the bike moving there is plenty of airflow across the engine for cooling. Set them a little richer at idle and just off idle to help slow the engine heating and then  above "x" kPa richer for peak power production. This has to be figured out when you ride the bike as different builds will want different things. Heavy baggers (Ultra) will operate in a different range than a dyna, even if the build is the exact same. This detailed type tuning is going to take more of your time and your not going to make any more peak power but it is going to improve the mileage

Thanks Steve, might set the clb tables back to original before the next vtune, being as we can control the area in which the clb's affect afr then the only result should be better fuel economy at light cruise for my dyna, will watch temps and compare them to the blanket 720 clb results for the same area.

I'm using 720 , probably the same source.

I also considered Doc's advice in his V-TUNE "Step by Step Outline"

"Set the Closed Loop Bias Voltage tables to the desired AFR voltage. (640 to 780 is a good range to work with)
For mileage , you may want to select 640. (Thats about 14.64 to 1.) The higher the number , the richer the bike cruises at, resulting in lower mileage for cruising."

The last map I did, I used 660.
Now I'm back to 720.

Hey 98... make sure that you are NOT zeroing out the AE and DE.  Doc has stated that this is NOT to be done.  Make your PE table set at 10,000 rpms. too.
