2005 SEEG Heated Hand Grips
« on: October 19, 2006, 08:56:40 PM »

After the MV trip and riding with some newer SE's, I'm now considering switching out the hand grips to heated ones.  Anyone make this mod to their bikes?  If so, how do they work and any suggestions?  I heard awhile back that folks were having reliability problems with this mod.....haven't heard of any problems with those models that have them standard.

Thanks!

When my bike was in for a service last year I told them to go on and install the heated grips. The next day the service dept. called and told me there was no way to get the wires in the bars, it was just too tight and would it be a problem to run the wires outside. Then they told me they had had problems with quite a few that they had installed. So I said don't bother which is what they were wanting to hear any way.

I wonder if the folks with the '06/07 SEUCs have had any problems? Parts catalogs indicates the heated hand grip controller (left grip) for the SEUC is a different part number from what is supplied over the counter (the wires are also hidden)...if the SEUC folks are not experiencing the same problems all of us are, maybe the solution is to order the grips they have - PJ

WFP is hoping his 06 grips will fail so he can get his replaced under warranty.  My first pair - (Stealth) did the same as his - the chrome all comes off and it looks bad.  I saw his while in MV.  After the second set of Stealth failed - I switched to the Flame heated grips. Not only do I like the look better, they are much more comfortable.  I found the stealth kinda "worried" my thumbs on the inside. Hard to explain, but I think it was Bubba who agreed with me that the Stealth grips are not that comfortable.

PJ - You really should have been MV.  You and Grover would have been tied for the best SEEGs.
