New iPad question
« on: July 18, 2013, 11:48:17 PM »

Bought a new 64 gb iPad.    Have iTunes on computer that I sync and backup my iPhone.  Tried setting up iPad so that it would grab all the songs, pictures, etc like what is on iPhone, but somehow, new iPad has its own iTunes and is not grabbing my 3,000 songs and about 10,000 pictures. My iPhone did it automatically.  What did I do wrong, and how do I fix it?   Thanks

Plug your iPad into your laptop and sync the two.  In the settings, check the box that enables the iPad to sync to the computer wirelessly.

You probably need to select the music and photos to be synced to the ipad. I think on the iPhone by default all music and photos will sync up but the option is not checked off for an iPad. Connect your ipad to the computer and in iTunes click on the music and photos tabs and make sure the music and pictures are checked off. Click apply and sync now. You should be all set.

I think that some might be misunderstanding your question.  Are you saying that when you plug in your new iPad, that iTunes opens, but with mo music listed?  If so, that means that iTunes is seeing a new file.  Open iTunes WITH all your music listed, and plug the iPad in then.  It will ask you if you want to synch to that computer, tell it yes, should be good to go.

I open iTunes, plug ipad in, tell it to sync and it starts backing up the ipad.  Of course there is nothing to backup, so it says sync is done.  I can't find where to tell iTunes to put songs movies and pictures and apps etc onto ipad.

With your ipad connected, select it in iTunes, which will take you to the config screen for the ipad. There will be some tabs at the top of this view for music, video, pictures, etc. Click on the music tab and it will take you to the music config view. There will be some checkboxes there for which song you want to sync to your iPad. Same for the pictures.

called apple support.  I had to go into the restore area and tell it I wanted the ipad restored from a backup of my iphone.  Thanks for all the help, that's why I love this forum.
