Installed the HD Daymaker LED Headlight in to the 13 CVO Breakout and the bulb is very loose in the housing. My dealer says when you install the LED a lot of the time you have to order a different trim ring but they have no idea which one it might be for mine. There is only one way it can go together and there is only one screw at the bottom to tighten the trim ring, The trim ring itself is tight, but I can touch the bulb and jiggle it around a little.

Any ideas??

There is a round metal plate behind the light.  If you install backwards light will rattle.  It goes in with the "cone ridge" pointed into the bike light housing, backwards from what you would think, it also has notches to line up the light and the ring itself into the bike light housing. Once aligned everything is straight and level, When you tighten the trim ring it snugs things up.

Turning the metal ring the other direction I can't get it to go together at all. Here is a picture of the metal ring installed the way the light will go together easily. Are you saying this is not right?

CVO Breakout Harley LED Headlight Problem
« Reply #3 on: July 24, 2013, 11:34:41 AM »

I installed the Harley Daytime LED Headlight and it is a little loose in the housing, I can move the bulb around a little with my fingers. Yesterday I was told I had the inner metal ring installed backwards but it really doesn't fit any other way it looks like to me. I have attached a pictrure of the way I have it installed.

My dealer just called and told me that I need to purchase LED Headlamp Housing kit number 67700093. This changes the outside trim ring to Black, as it is not made in Chrome. The bike is Black and Silver so maybe a Black headlight trim ring won't look that bad.

Has anyone else had this issue?

The dealer installed my for free when I purchased it. It fits fine with the chrome trim ring. Not sure what's going on but would not accept that from the dealer.

I installed mine with the existing ring as well just as SteveO explained. No issues with the installation.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!

Since the breakout utilizes the Springer Headlight (I didn't know that) Harley Part number "67700059 HDLIGHT SNUBBER LED" must be installed prior to installing the LED headlight. It is solid as a rock now!!

I must say that in my opinion the LED headlight should be the second accessory any Breakout owner purchases, right after the pipes. It is that good, I can hardly believe how much it lights up the road. With the standard light I was overdriving the headlight at 50 mph.

Thanks to all that replied to my post!

Now if that darn docking kit would just get here.

I will but it will be a while. I have almost stripped the head out of the screw as earlier I kept thinking I didn't have it tightened enough. I do not want to take the light apart again until I obtain a new screw. Inside the housing there is an inch and a half wide flange near the bottom that the snubber just slips onto. Here is a pic of the snubber. I can asure you this snubber must be installed to get the LED to install properly.

Stopped by Harley today and got the screw. Here is a pic of the snubber inside the housing.
