Primary issue?

Had an 09 ttowed in today. Customer stated Bike was running fine then just would not move when giving it gas. They tried to restart then noticed horrible noise in primary.......swore there was no noise prior.
This is what we found.....

The comp but backed out and ground its way into and through the primary cover. it a eventually bound up and snapped off in the crankshaft. Fortunately we were able to get the broken piece of bolt out of a crank shaft. Comp was destroyed as was the chain and tensioner. Here's what the inside of the cover looked like.

I personally have never seen one that bad before.  Is that the worst you have seen?

Wow, have seen the old style comps come loose and the big nut grind on the primary a bit.  But never (yet) a comp failure as catastrophic as that.  Ugly.

Yep, this is (so far) the worst I have seen. What really gets me is they swear it made NO noise prior... :confused5:

how many watts is there stereo?

that's just plain nasty.  can't believe they didn't see that protruding from the primary either.
