Brighter tail lights?
« on: August 05, 2013, 12:34:56 PM »

My wife is frequently complaining that when she follows me she has a really hard time seeing my turn signals. ('12 SG) Is there any way to brighten them up? I had thought you could convert to LED but checked on HD's site and see that is a front end lighting thing only.  Just curious if anyone else has made any mods here to improve visibility...

Hah, so there is.  My bad, I'm usually pretty good at looking around first...

Thanks.

So while the strobe plugin seems to be the solution for poor BRAKING visibility, I've seen it asked a couple times but never answered - how does this add-on work for directionals? Does it do the same thing for one side? Or does it only engage on brakes. None of the posted you tube videos show just a blinker...

it doesn't do anything until you hit the brakes.  the signals work as normal.

Thanks, that was what I was expecting to hear. Bummer too as that's the main issue my wife has - not seeing that I'm making a turn until I'm already slowing down for it...

you could always 'adjust' your riding style.  when you are getting ready to make a turn, just hit your brakes once or twice to get her attention, then use your signal as normal.  i have my mblf set on mode 6 (or maybe eight) it does the crazy strobe for a couple of flashes then goes to solid.  hit that when getting ready to turn and she'll definitely notice it.
