2014 CVO RK Improvements & Updates over previous years
« on: September 13, 2013, 12:04:00 PM »

I looked and can't find in one place all the updates and changes so I thought this would be a good place to post them. I'll start, new and larger front forks, new larger and sealed neck bearings, lifters were updated in 2013 and this year the crank now has bearings once again :orange:, re-tuned engine but not sure what was done maybe someone else will chime in, different and upgraded compensator, different electronics in console, mirror changes like seat (although pretty much useless for me without a backrest), tank emblem, I think the front fender is cut slightly higher to show more of the wheel, coarse we see all the things taken away from last year and all the blacked out parts (some will like some will not). Anything else I missed or other info please chime in. Also post any reviews, would be nice to heard how this year ride and engine sounds or performs different from other years.

Not sure I like the idea of linked brakes, sort of like to choose how much of each to use myself.  Big reason I am not sure on linked brakes is what happens if you need to use just a little rear brake in a curve?  Now the front comes on and tries to stand the bike up.

I may be wrong on the cams. After thinking about it, I believe reading  they only changed the cam's on the 103's. I think they still have the 255's in the 110's.

HD says the 14's have a new higher lift cam but don't specify.  So, I do not think they have the 255, anymore. Here is a pretty good article describing all of the updates to the new Road King:

I didn't realize the upgraded the bearings for 14?  That's really a nice upgrade to have if you want to do a little perf work without ripping the whole thing apart.  I may just have to up the compression, little more cam and some headwork this winter.

the 1" lowered ride cartridge forks are really nice.  The upgraded cartridges make the ride quality really nice and the 1" lowering seems to level the bike a bit--I've heard the same for the street glides.  The advertised torque seems to be at least 10 lb/ft more than my 08 FXDSE2 was.  The bike seems really quick out on the highway with the new motor.

The 14 also has coil over rear suspension that's adjustable, not sure if the 13's had that.  It has the new larger bags that all the touring bikes have with the one hand operations.

The overall 14 package has some nice improvements...motor, suspension, bags, and it has killer looks.  I am on the fence about trading.
