'Had the SE StageIII Kit in the '09, I preferred the 259s moving the curve to the "right" (instead of the all "left" of the 255s) the 259s seemed to come on around 2,750 and pull well into the 5,500 range. I was satisfied with the power 107/119... If you have a Dealer that will stand behind this SE Kit then it's a good way to go.

The SE Pistons in the Kit required a good bit of honing (w/ torque plates) to get a proper fit (supposed to be drop in, the pistons in the SE Kit I got must have been out of spec??)

That was a few years back, now I'd look real hard (especially if you don't have a Dealer that will stand behind the SE StageIII Kit) at one of the 113 kits (cylinders properly bored to good pistons)by some of the Indys, GMR seems to have the 113s dialed in...

I'm a big fan of the T-Man 625s, they come on earlier and stay later than the 259s...

Don't forget the lifters, and crank runout...

We grab the 110-113" pistons from Suburban HD's Speed Shop.
HONEST guys.

We did a 113 kit ( Arias pistons)  on a bike to solve a piston , oil usage issue.. and we left the rest of the build alone. Now this may be the best combo with these parts or got very lucky with stock heads.. I do not know as I really do not use the 259 cam often . However the results with stock heads and stock t/b proved in this case to make some killer tq.   If you stay 110 I would check cylinders measure pistons etc ..

Again this is the only one that has been this nice. And the only one that had the louvered dd fat cat pipe.  Either way if this can be duplicated its is a winner

That is a good looking 259 tq curve.  Good job.  I have never been impressed with that cam and toward full disclosure.  I have never had it in what I would consider a good combo.  It is hard to judge anything with VH 2-2 big radius or something to that affect.

If you ride it like you stole it, Stock Crank will take a chit on 'ya, sooner or later.  'Course some of the experts on here will disagree, but just sayin......Later--HUBBARD

I agree, no sense spending several thousand to upgrade the top end without addressing the bottom. :drink: been there done that and it haunted me every time I rode it. So next motor I did the bottom and now worry free. Well it is a Harley so anything can happen anytime.

I agree also.  Done it on Terrie's 09 Street Glide and on my 10 CVO Street Glide.

My experience....for decades....when you build it for performance and use it for what it was built for, it's not a matter of "if" but more a matter of "when".  My experience also....anytime you bump compression sooner or later you're going to leak or seep oil someplace.  :nixweiss:

We have a 107" in Camden, NY with over 30,000 miles with that cam.
His bud insisted on that .625 in a 124" we built a couple years ago as well..........HUGE torque.(as anticipated)
Hits and stays like a Wood 400.

Just looking for more mid range power, so your saying the stage 3 puts undue stress on the stock crank.

So bigger compression pistons(stage 3 SE) can cause leaks? you had the stage 3 on these 2 bikes?
