Very humbling place. Makes me glad I was never counted among the captured or MIA's. Thanks for sharing.

Fabulous Jock!  While I'd read of Andersonville prison, I did not know of the museum.  It's now on my bucket list.

Several times, I have had the privilege of attending an annual event called "The Ride Home", which is put on each September during the POW/MIA Awareness Week, where former POW's and MIA family members are brought to Andersonville and Americus, GA for recognition ceremonies.  It is very humbling to meet and spend time with these heroes.  I would highly recommend that you make the trip if you have the opportunity.

BTW- Your photographs are much better than any of the snapshots I took while there...Thank You for this post!

I am ashamed to admit that I didn't even know about Andersonville. I must go spend some time there to pay proper respect.

Those like me who have never served in the Armed Forces, and who have never experienced the horrors of war firsthand, probably cannot truly ever grasp the real meaning of a place like this. We owe an unpayable debt of gratitude to those who have ever served, and we honor them all.

All gave some, and some gave all.

Thanks for sharing all of these very moving pictures, Jock.

Jock, a very thought provoking subject here. Thanks for reminding me of sacrifices made from soldiers and their families during times of all conflicts.

Well done Sir,
