Wheel Bearings
« on: July 25, 2013, 07:57:57 PM »

Bought the 08 FLHTCUSE3 in Jan with 18K and change. Have put 6K on it. Front tire had some check marks, dry rot, so contact Aaron to change bearings when changing tire. He's thinking it only has 25K should be no problem. I said I do not trust 5 year old grease.

Long story short. The right side CHEAP ASS ball bearing shot! Very lucky move for me. Never heard Aaron rant before about cheap crap on a HD.

I guess where I'm going with this is: I would consider changing the bearing every 3-5 years. I know my fronts will change with every 2nd tire and rear every 3-4 tire.

CHEAP INSURANCE! Me thinks.

I too just replace all my wheel bearings, AND, you'll need to check the bearing on your rear drive pulley.  I too have the same bike and went to get the bearing replaced on this pulley just cause I replaced all others. Glad i did, they said that the rubber bushings need to be replaced at a minimum of every other tire, if not, this pulley bearing will wear and wallow out the pulley, just an FYI
