It's RAINING Lovebugs !!!
« on: September 20, 2013, 09:53:16 AM »

We drove down to Destin, FL for a wedding this past weekend.  From about Montgomery, AL all the way to the beach, the lovebugs were off the friggin chain!  You'll need to squeegee your face off, Riders beware!  :nervous:

Ouch! Got caught in a swarm like that once, no windshield with half helmet and sunglasses.  I was down to 40 mph real quick and it still felt like bees.   :'(

Glad to see they stayed in N. Florida/Georgia this season. We rode couple hundred miles today in Tampa/St Pete area with no love bug problems, this is normally bad time of the year here. Actually they are easy to get off if you do it quik and use the right approach. They are water solubile, just let a wet towel soak on them for a few minutes and they dissolve easily. Still stink very bad though.

hah, i wish.  they're bad as hell here in la.  but it's just been only recently.  and something else that works great on getting love bugs off?  a 50/50 mix of water and peroxide.

If you ever made Hydrogen Peroxide for a living, you would not poor it on your paint. Be very careful of this, verify the strenght of the product before you even consider it. by this I mean mixing 70% peroxide with water at a 50% mix will still burn you to the bone, whereas 2 or 4 % will only ruin your clearcoat (over time). I would never do this on any painted surface. Not sure where this suggestion came from but for any one without paint/body shop experience you should stay away from this. IMHO only.

South Louisiana has them bad too. Dont let them stay on long. Bad for paint or chrome. And they stink. Very hard to get off even if just a few hours
