Using a MacBook Pro with TTS?
« on: October 17, 2013, 03:37:06 PM »

Has anyone been able to tune their bikes using a Mac anfd the TTS Mastertune?  How?  I'm looking to get the dual tuner for both my CVO's but I don't have a windows based puter.  And from what I'm being told it has to be windows...
Thanks

Parrallels. My wife needed access to one site for work that would not support using anything other tha IE...so we needed to get windows on two of our macs. Future shop tech put it on and only used 5 or 10% of the available 'power'...works great.

I have run the MasterTune software on my MBP on Windows running under VMWare Fusion, and also under Parallels. You do need another copy of Windows though.

The TTS software will run fine, but you will need to connect the USB port to the Windows virtual machine under which Windows is running. No big deal... Just a setting.

Both Fusion and Parallels are very good products. I would recommend either, but Parallels is probably easier for a non-technical user.

One problem when doing Vtune runs with a MBP is that there is no way that I know of to keep a MBP from going to sleep when you close the lid... You have to keep the lid propped open about 2" to keep the MBP running.

2nd on hard to keep from sleeping.  I use parallels, and I've tried insomniaX which is supposed to keep the Macbook from sleeping, but it doesn't work.

I don't know of ANYTHING that will keep it awake... I have always wondered why there isn't a setting in OS X to allow the MBP to continue to run while closed. That's the ONLY thing I don't love about my MBP.

I've installed windows 7 on three Macbook Airs using bootcamp. Pretty straightforward easy install. Needed for PV software for myself.
