Comp removal question
« on: September 03, 2013, 01:02:41 PM »

Ok so I figure I want to do this right and I thought I would buy proper tools. So, I went ahead and purchased the little plastic step to lock the chain. NOW when I purchased a manual it says not to use it .........wtf....why.

So I remember I had the locking bar when I worked on my 94 eglide BUT now there is a differant "Jims" number for the newer models. If any one has the one that will work on an 09 could you tell me the length and I will cut mine to work.

Assuming you have a touring bike, memory says 5.900", I'm not home so can't measure mine. Cut a paint paddle or something similar, and fit to make sure it looks right before cutting your old tool.

Well thanx again. Now I have to see if they will take it back, they charged me 64 bucks for it. Maybe they will let me exchange it for the right bar.

Anyway if you could get me the right length that would be GREAT.

I travel for work and am not home, so I would search to verify what I stated.
