2014 Hand Controls Retro to 2012 CVO
« on: September 16, 2013, 10:53:23 AM »

Handlebar controls on the new 2014's look like they might be easier to use than the older verions.  Anybody know if the new hand controls on the 2014's can be retro-fitted to a 2012 CVO?  http://www.harley-davidson.com/store/lighted-hand-control-switches

No, you really really really really can't.

Ok, the difference is not just the switches nor their housings.  What is being switched by them is completely different.  How the connections are made to them is completely different.  The types of connections that plug in to them are completely different.  The number of connections on them is completely different.  The new switches aren't just mechanical switches as are the ones you're trying to take off.  They are data sending modules that are part of a computerized data bus (CANBUS) and are, completely different.  They taste completely different.  They smell completely different.  And if you smack them on the bottom and speak dirty to them their reaction will be... yes... completely different.

No they won't work. The electriacl system is different on the 2014. It uses the CANBUS system and wont work with the old system.
