Radiantz/Badlands LED tail light fitting.
« on: October 29, 2013, 03:25:54 AM »

Hi there

Should be an easy no fuss replacement but this afternoon I removed the existing taillight easy as, and went to install the one supplied and I'm having trouble inserting one of the screws that retain the light to the chrome backing plate. It's definitely not rocket science but it's as though one or the other mounting hole is just out a fraction. I've tried a screw start either side while holding the light in place and compressing the rubber gasket but I don't want to force the screws either side so I was wondering if there is some trick way I can mount the light without damaging it, the backing plate or the screw threads? Any advice appreciated and I thought I'd ask here before I proceed.

Cheers

Hi there

OK I got it to fit. I had to ease out the mounting holes by going up 1 increment in drill size and shave the surround the sits on the inside lip of the chrome base. I also very carefully removed the rubber gasket and compressed it by laying between two lumps of heavy flat steel for an hour. Stuck it back on and the tail light installed with no pressure at all on the screws, but still sealing with the rubber gasket. Must've have got a dodgy one?

Anyways it's on :)

Keep us updated on how you like it, post a pic if possible. I'm not sure if I want the Radiantz or the Kuryakyn. Does the Radiantz pulse? Thanks

Hi there I'll post a pic in a day or two. The tail light has two options as in strobe/no strobe. I chose the standard no strobe model because here in Australia I reckon the driver behind you would not know what the &*%k was going on if the brake light strobed before being solidly lit. It's bad enough that most motorists in the country are not bike conscious as opposed the US where it was an absolute pleasure to ride!

Hi there

A couple of quick, not so great shots of the taillight as requested. :)

The  Radiantz unit is the way to go, it pulses (non adjustable), less $$, & is brighter than the Kury product.
