Hi: I'm a Newbie, I want to remove my two point rear docking, and replace with the four point rear docking. I'm having a problem removing the #30 torx screws from the factory installed two point brackets. They will not break loose with a 3/8" breaker bar. Are they permenitly loctited?  Also,  I would like to install a Chopped Tour Pack on my 2013 Road King. Can anyone tell me if half helmets will fit in the chopped version? I would need to put two of them in there, if we would want to leave them to go inside somewhere. Thanks! JP

Why remove them? Just add the additional ones you want. Down the road they very well may come in handy and yep, you can get halfs into a chop box.  :bananarock:

They should come out.  I don't remember having a tough tome removing mine... Maybe shooting a little WD40 will help.   I had the chopped tour pack on my 04.  Really not worth it,, won't hold too much.  I would go with the king,,, makes more sense. Might as well have the comfort of more space.

I agree with Stu, the only time you gonna run the pak is when you toteing something. The King will give you much more room, but its your ride make yourself happy.

Last time I made this change those bolts were a pain to break free and I had to use a long cheater bar to get them lose, factory used some serious Loctite. The chopped pak will be tight with two helmets, you'd be better off with the king as others have noted.

Hello, update:

I took the bike to my dealer to have the two point brackets removed, and the four point installed. I was afraid to go forward on my own because I did not want to round out the torx heads. I'm not sure how they removed the old screws, but it only took them less that 30 minuets. Cost me a little over $38.00. No big deal, but I like to do my own work when possable. Thanks for all of the replies! Good to know that I could put a couple of half helmets in the chopped tour pack. They will not fit in the saddle bags, and don't like having to carry them around when ever we stop to eat, or leave the bike for awhile. I'm going to order the tour pack and back rest etc. If we do any long trips I will order the king tour pack at that time. Thanks again for all of the feedback! Best Regards: JP

I'm not sure how they removed the old screws

Probably used air wrenches.

Cost me a little over $38.00.

That's worth it.

They will not fit in the saddle bags

My halfsie fits in my saddelbags. I keep junk, like the helmet and rain gear, in the right bag and clothes in the CTP and left bag.

If we do any long trips I will order the king tour pack at that time. Thanks again for all of the feedback! Best Regards: JP

Best of all worlds.

Yes I have a chopped as well, on my CVO Street Glide, I  absolutely hate the look of the king , unless its on an ultra...i put a King on my 12' Road Glide Custom when taking momma along for a trip and it sickened me to look at it ..LOL.....  But on my 05' Electra glide it seemed to look normal.. so to each his own ...The King definitely will hold more stuff..  and I do put my half helmets in the saddlebags when the TP isnt on.... I now own both a King and a Chopped ... think I'll sell the King in the Spring... Indy , where you from ...(INDY ?)

Picked up a spring loaded hand impact tool at a flea market, best cheap tool I have ever bought. Works with either losen or tighten. Use it on my rotors all the time.

I use Southside Harley Davidson.  I used the Plainfield HD one time when I purchased my 2003 Heritage Springer from them, and will never go back for any service. They used to have a very good Motorclothes Department but went down hill when their Manager left, that was several years ago. South side has an excellent Service Department, and a good Motorclothes Department too. Just one man's opinion!  :2vrolijk_21:
