speaker problems
« on: November 27, 2006, 10:14:04 PM »

The left speaker on my 01 SE has quit working. I removed the fairing for troubleshooting purposes and found out it is not the speaker. I swapped leads to each side and determined the speakers are fine. I have no power going to the left side.

Has anyone run across this before? Any ideas on what is next?
Thanks in advance. G-J

My guess would be the left amplifier is shot.  Had a buddies bike do the same thing.....finally had to replace the radio. :'(

I would contact Radio Sound, the manufacturer of the radio (502-267-6768).  For a flat fee, something like $130 + frt they will go through it and fix it.

They're pretty fast too.

Sounds kinda pricey for a well used radio........you'll get one side fixed and then the other will go....JMHO

no extras installed, stock basically. I'm guessing the amplifer is built into the radio?

If you want the stock CD changer in the TP to work you should send it to Radio Sound for a swap out or they can fix yours and return it. I've had some dealings with them and it's not too bad. If you don't want the changer anymore just go to a newer model or aftermarket.

Yes,
The amp is built into the radio.......Repairing a 5+ yr old radio doesn't make sense in my book.  HD-Dude sells the wiring stuff to make a aftermarket radio work with the hand controls (pretty neat set up).  I think he can also get radio's too (he gives 10% discount).  Easy job to do....takes maybe 2 hours.
