does the new updated screaming eagle cam plate use bearings , or does the cams run on bronze bushings. I have seen both and am confused as to what set up I have. part #25284-08
That kit is designed to be used with the 1999-2006 Twin Cam engines (1999-2005 Dyna), and the outer cam bearings are the original style ball/roller bearings. If you were to change to a cam plate designed for the 2007 and later engines, then the cams use plain bearings (the cam journals run in the machined metal of the plate, no separate bearings are used).
Some of us used the kit you referenced to update our 1999-2006 engines, and others like me changed over to the new style plates, chains, and cams for the 2007 and later models. Either way works, but doing it my way requires special cams, often called conversion cams, with the inner bearing journals sized for the older engines and the outer journals designed for the plain bearing system. The kit you referenced still uses the cams designed for the older system, with pressed on bearings.
