Lowers
« on: December 10, 2013, 03:30:07 PM »

I just ordered some color matched lower for my ride.  As I have read here they do not work with the heavy breather on the RGC CVO.  I was wonder if am Arlen Ness inverted would work with the back plate that hides the throttle body/wires?

Heres a link. http://shop.arlenness.com/s-183-inverted-air-cleaner-kits.aspx

Or even one of he RSD cleaners?

I really don't want to take the backing plate off.

while the lowers will not work with the stock heavy breather, you can replace the element with the compact filter and it'll work fine.  that will eliminate any hassle of removing/changing backing plates etc.  just a quick 10 minute filter change.  the only problem is that the cool contrast cut aluminum filter cover won't fit either.  so you either end up with the exposed filter, or covering it up with the hd rain sock.

this is the route i took.  i changed the filter to the compact filter, and i'm going to order the rain sock one of these days.

I have to agree the long breather looks better but the short and long breathers do the same job.
Decisions we have to make sometimes causes another decision to be made.
When you add the cone cover-not the rain cover- it turns into looks not function.

well, about the only way that i know to keep the contrast cut cover and run lowers is to remove the glovebox insert and run the lowers without them.  while you'll still get some of the wind management that the lowers provide, you do lose some of the functionality, ie. storage, and vents....

decisions, decisions....

me, i'm going with the short filter and the rain sock.  doesn't look quite as cool, but its a compromise.....

'Run the Ventilator that came stock on the '09 SERG, my friend with the 113" Skunk put the black Ventilator on with his vented lowers and it looks great!

'Like the vented lowers so much on the '09 SERG that I wouldn't care what a/c I had to run.

You could probably fit the HB with the shorter filter, but not with speakers in the lowers.

I think some are missing the point.  I know the heavey breater will go, so the chrome elbow to the contrast cut cone is gone....  I want to know if the Alen or RSD cleaners will work the oem black pieces behind that elbow?

Thanx all

other than the heavy breather ... the throttle body servo cover will not work with any other air cleaners without major modifications.... there was a post or thread on here that I'm sure someone will have or find the link to that shows how a servo cover was modified to work...

So if I understand correctly I would need to by something like this ( http://www.dkcustomproducts.com/Air-Cleaner-Support-Brackets_c22.htm ) to run a RSD Clarity breather???

You can also keep the stock cleaner and remove the inner wall of the lowers. It works great you just lose the small storage. My buddy dose this on his 13' CVORGC and it looks great.

So I decided on the Performance Machine Max HP with their servo cover plate, should bolt right up.

So will the lower work with my Arlen Ness floorboards, they are thehuge 1/2 moon shaped ones???

My bike is in the shop right now  - anyone know if this support bracket is there on the 2012 RGC CVO.  The link are the PM air cleaner instructions:
